Environmental Audit of San Anton Palace

Following the environment audit held at San Anton Palace on the 21st March, 6 eco-schools were kindly granted an audience with His Excellency Dr. George Abela. This meeting was held at San Anton Palace, with committee members from the different schools reading out their observations and proposed actions for the Palace and its halls, bathrooms, kitchen and offices together with its private gardens and the President’s Kitchen Garden. Young People’s Earth Summit

20 years ago Severn Suzuki silenced the world speaking at the Rio Summit. Today, 10th May 2012, 17 Maltese EkoSkola schools met to discuss the current situation and identify their concerns about the global environment and the future, collating all into a declaration which they intend to first present to Malta’s Members of Parliament during the annual EkoSkola Parliament session due in beginning of June and to later take to the Rio +20 summit. 3rd cycle of the HSBC Eco-Schools Climate Initiative Community Projects

Participating schools were invited to submit original, innovative projects aimed at making the school a hub of Climate change action by working with and within their local communities. Out of 19 proposals 12 projects were selected due to restricted funding. With the financial support given by HSBC Malta Foundation, these 12 schools worked on reducing the carbon dioxide footprint in the locality, building an eco-garden and water conservation park, kitchen garden and indigenous plants, created awareness...

Children turn stolen trees incidents into opportunity

Students who contributed to an afforestation project were very disappointed to see that about 70 of the trees were stolen on three different occasions earlier this year, but primary school students attending St Clare College in Pembroke have turned the incident into an opportunity by putting forward suggestions related to prevention, better surveillance and law enforcement, as well as more awareness about trees and their benefits.
