Flick the Switch

Who's Participating: St Clare College, San Ġwann Primary

The main focus of the EKo Skola Committee was to encourage students to waste less energy and water. The Eco School Committee made an audit to check how the school uses energy.  The Green Friends were formed. The Green Friends voluntarily (according to a scheduled time table) supervise the corridor during break to make sure that classes and rooms which are not in use, have no electrical appliance and equipment switched on.  At the end of the month the most energy friendly classes receive a certificate for their effort. Flick the Switch Campaign

Who's Participating: St Benedict College, Kirkop Secondary School

In the Flick the Switch Campaign students and staff were continually reminded about the importance of saving energy by simply switching off lights which are switched on unnecessarily. The Flick the Switch Campaign – An EkoSkola sub-committee was formed.  The students participating were called Flickers.  Their main task was to inform others to minimise wastage of energy by switching off lights which were left on unnecessarily.  This was done through power point presentations, talks organised by EkoSkola, the filming of a video and also by reminding teachers in classrooms during free lessons...

Earth Day

Who's Participating: St Clare College, San Ġwann Primary

As a closure to our environment related activities we made a promise to help make the World a better place. In preparation for Earth Day we had a big jigsaw puzzle of the World made. Each class had a piece on which they had to write their promise to the World. On Earth Day during the Assembly we gathered all the pieces, put in place and read our promises. In relation to this week we had other activities with the same theme, including singing, presentations and games.
