Who's Participating: St Monica School, Gżira

The St Monica Gzira Primary EkoSkola Committee prepared a video as part of a campaign with the title: “Show you care, do your share.” The campaign was planned as part of the U4energy competition category C. The group was made up of students from grades 3 to 6 at the school. The campaign aimed to make students and subsequently parents and the community aware that their actions can help reduce energy. Environmental Review at San Anton Palace and San Anton Kitchen Garden

Who's Participating: St Francis School, Birkirkara, St Therese College, Birkirkara Primary, St Therese College, Lija-Balzan-Iklin Primary, St Aloysius Primary, Balzan, St Monica School, Birkirkara, St Therese College, Middle School, Birkirkara

Five EkoSkola Committee members from six nearby schools participated in an environmental review which took place at San Anton Palace and San Anton Kitchen Garden on the 21st of March. The students and their link teachers were first guided through the Piano Nobile of the Palace, under the expert guidance of the Palace Attendant Mr. John Mifsud. This was followed by the actual audit, for which the 6 groups were assigned to work in 3 different areas. The areas under study included the Palace halls and dining room, pantry, kitchen, offices, bathrooms, roof, 2 private gardens and the newly opened...

Crafts Made from Used Material

Who's Participating: St Benedict College, Qrendi Primary

In our school, we practise  Eco-School values because our students want to embellish this environment by making crafts from used material. This will in turn  reduce waste. Here you can see various crafts that are made from used material like toilet paper rolls, used paper for free drawing, pots and bowls. Butterflies made from used paper Puppets made from used paper, envelopes and toilet paper rolls Our students picked up some branches that they have found scattered in the countryside and turned them into beautiful ornaments. World Water Day at Our School

Who's Participating: St Ignatius College, Luqa Primary

It was Thursday, the 22nd of March and we have been preparing an assembly, which commemorates World Water Day, for the last two weeks! Ms Miriam told us to do some write-ups and charts about World Water Day and she looked for some information. Ms Cynthia, coordinator of EkoSkola, sent us some video-clips as well and with the help of Ms Carmen Seychell and the Art teacher, Ms Annalise, we made the charts and posters. Composting

Who's Participating: St Benedict College, Qrendi Primary

The whole school is bringing food left-overs for the compost. They are really enjoying this activity as they are going  on their own to empty the compost in the compost bin. They learned what are the benefits of the compost. The community is involved as they bring left-overs from home too. The left-overs of cooking activities that are done at school are to be put in our compost bin. So the whole school is involved.    more
