Eco-School Green Flag Ceremony

Who's Participating: St Thomas More College, Secondary School, Sta Lucia

On the 24th of November, a few members of the committee and myself, were invited to a ceremony held at St Benedicts College – Kirkop to collect the green flag. Once there, we were given a few words of congratulations and our school’s name, amongst others, was announced and we proudly went up on stage and received the flag. As I am the president, I was the first to receive it and passed it on to the other members of the committee. The committee’s secretary and I, were given a green sash to commemorate the event. Fairtrade Information Day

Who's Participating: St Joseph School, Blata l-Bajda

St Joseph Primary School at Blata l-Bajda organised a specific Fairtrade Information Day also with the intention to participate in Global Action Weeks. The project started with all the pupils of the school being introduced to the subject of Fair Trade through an informative power point prepared by one of the LSAs coordinating the activity. Parents and relatives also attended and learnt about Fairtrade. Celebrating Environmental Day – a day full of activities

Who's Participating: St Joseph, Mater Boni Consilii School, Paola

Our theme was Step Up Your Health for a Greener Earth.  Students, parents, friends and the community as well as students from neighbouring schools  were invited for a Fun day of activities relating to Healthy lifestyles and well being.  Promoting eating locally to reduce carbon footprint. Healthy Lifestyles awareness session organised by a group of medical students to encourage our students to eat a balanced diet and get moving! A visit to the Island Sanctuary

Who's Participating: St Thomas More College, Secondary School, Sta Lucia

On the 20th of May 2011, the Eko-Skola Committee was invited to spend a morning at the Island Sanctuary. The visit was a very nice experience for me, and in fact I went to visit again just two days later, as I was so touched by how much the dogs want to be loved. From this whole experience I learnt that a dog is a true friend indeed. Even though some of these dogs were tortured and badly hurt they still want to bring happiness to other people and keep us happy with them. A particular dog named ‘Olympia’ preferred staying close to us rather than going to eat. I can really say that I was touched...
