The 7th EkoSkola Parliament Session

The EkoSkola Parliament session is a yearly event aimed at providing students participating in the EkoSkola programme an opportunity to meet Members of Parliament and discuss with them their environmental concerns. This year’s session, held on the 8th of June, was rendered more special as this year marks the Parliament’s 90th anniversary of its foundation. Ninety students from 45 different schools accompanied by 19 Members of Parliament attended this seventh edition of the EkoSkola Parliament. Litter Management

Who's Participating: St Monica School, Birkirkara

The litter bins in the yard were properly labelled for separation of waste.  A number of identical cardboard boxes were collected, labelled and placed in each classroom for the separation of paper and plastic waste.  Wheely bins were placed on each floor for collection of waste. A noticeboard in the primary section and another in the secondary section were set up  in line with ‘Bin it Well’ campaign which showed by actual examples, how waste should be separated. HSBC Climate Change Initiative

Who's Participating: St Clare College, San Ġwann Primary

We wanted the students to understand what climate change is, what its effect on the World is and how we can help to reduce these effects. The children were encouraged to research about climate change, about why and how we can save energy.  The information was then collected into points and presented during an assembly entitled: ‘Why Penguins are so concerned about the weather?’ Another assembly was titled: ‘Save Energy’.
