Letter to Students from Bishop Grech on the Occasion of the World Day of Prayer for the Care of Creation

Bishop Mario Grech wrote a letter to children about the Environment on the occasion of the World Day of Prayer for the Care of Creation, which Pope Francis wishes to be celebrated by the Catholic Church, in communion with the Orthodox Church, on the 1st of September starting from this year.
Bishop Grech encourages children amongst other things to avoid buying new school bags if their old ones are still good to use and similarly for other items, avoiding to discard things which can still be used rather then opting for new ones. He also encourages the intelligent use of water especially in a water scarce island, avoiding the use of cars, encouraging them to take walks in the countryside rather then staying glued to their computers. Less waste, more recycling and participating in organic waste collection were also suggested.
Bishop Mario concludes his letter by inviting all young people to love one another, respect life from conception to death, and help each other, starting from those around us but also thinking of those further away as well
